The Overview
Honeywell used to be a conglomerate: aeroplane parts, chemicals, building controls, factory automation. It has now broken itself up.
On 29 June it handed its aerospace business to shareholders as a separate company called Honeywell Aerospace, giving one Aerospace share for every two Honeywell shares. One minute later it combined every two remaining Honeywell shares into one — a reverse split. It had already separated its advanced materials business.
Separately, a quantum-computing company Honeywell had built, called Quantinuum, went public. Honeywell no longer controls it, so accounting rules made it recognise a $6.6 billion paper gain. It still owns a large stake, worth $7,525 million at the listing — about a tenth of Honeywell's entire stock-market value.
Here is the practical problem for anyone trying to value this. The most recent set of accounts, published on 23 July, still includes the aerospace business. The first accounts describing the company that actually exists today will be published on 22 October. Until then nobody outside the company knows how much debt it carries, what dividend it will pay, or how much cash it generates.
We can, however, work out what the surviving business earns, because the accounts report each division separately. In the three months to June the three remaining divisions sold $5,182 million of products and services and made $1,171 million of divisional profit — a 22.6% margin, which is very good. Sales grew 3.4%.
But look at why sales grew. Volumes were flat — zero, and slightly negative over six months. All the growth was price increases put through to cover inflation. And one of the three divisions, industrial automation, is shrinking.
At $248.79 the shares cost about 30 times this year's expected earnings and 25 times next year's. The stock closed at its highest price of the past year on the day this was written, and its momentum indicator is in overbought territory.
Our estimate of fair value is $241, about 3% below the price. Analysts average $264.50.
We are marking this "Watch" rather than "Hold" for one reason: on 22 October the numbers that would let anyone properly value this company arrive. Buying before they do is buying something you cannot see.
- Downside Risk 7/10. A good business you cannot currently measure, at its highest price of the year.
- Growth Quality 5/10. One excellent division, one flat, one shrinking, and zero volume growth.
- Exponential Potential 4/10. A $7,525 million quoted stake in a quantum-computing company, inside a controls business.
Putting a number on it: our fair-value estimate is $241 against a current price of $217.43 — real upside if our numbers are right.
Our summary metrics
"Rated 7, and the largest single component of the rating is that the company cannot be measured. The June-quarter balance sheet — cash $8,751 million against commercial paper of $2,478 million, current maturities of $5,282 million and long-term debt of $26,228 million, i.e. total debt of $33,988 million and NET DEBT of $25,237 million — is a PRE-spin balance sheet. How much of that debt left with Honeywell Aerospace is not disclosed anywhere in this archive; the pro-forma balance sheet is Exhibit 99.3 to the 2026-06-29 8-K and was not extracted. The same applies to the dividend: the filed figure of $2.38 per share per quarter, $9.52 annualised on the split-adjusted basis, is pre-spin, and the post-spin rate is unknown. Free cash flow is likewise unknowable — first-half operating cash flow from continuing operations was $626 million against $1,442 million a year earlier, a 57% decline, and that figure still includes Aerospace. Beyond the measurement problem: total shareowners' equity of $18,857 million against goodwill and intangibles that exceeded it before the spin, giving negative tangible book value; volume growth of ZERO in the June quarter and MINUS 1% year to date, with all 4% of sales growth coming from price; Industrial Automation revenue down 4.6% year on year; and $2,211 million of acquisitions in fiscal 2025 alongside $8,880 million in fiscal 2024. Against all of that: a genuinely high-quality automation franchise at a 22.6% segment margin, a $7,525 million quoted stake in Quantinuum, and an investment-grade balance sheet even after the spin."
"Rated 5 — the surviving business grows, slowly, on price rather than volume. The 10-Q's segment table is the only place the post-spin company appears, and it is worth reading precisely. Second-quarter 2026 against 2025: Building Automation $2,002 million of sales against $1,826 million, PLUS 9.6%, with segment profit $542 million against $479 million, PLUS 13.2% at a 27.1% margin; Process Automation and Technology $1,679 million against $1,613 million, PLUS 4.1%, with profit $371 million against $386 million, MINUS 3.9%; Industrial Automation $1,501 million against $1,574 million, MINUS 4.6%, with profit $258 million against $256 million, plus 0.8%. Summed, the three surviving segments produced $5,182 million of sales against $5,013 million, PLUS 3.4%, and $1,171 million of segment profit against $1,121 million, PLUS 4.5%, at a margin of 22.6% against 22.4%. The consolidated sales bridge is unambiguous about where the growth comes from: volume 0%, price PLUS 4%, currency PLUS 1%, acquisitions PLUS 1%, divestitures MINUS 2% in the quarter; year to date volume is MINUS 1%. Consensus has post-spin adjusted EPS at $8.320 (2026), $10.041 (2027) and $11.553 (2028) — growth of 20.7% then 15.0% — on revenue of $20,178 million, $20,543 million and $21,686 million, i.e. revenue growth of only 1.8% and 5.6%. The entire earnings acceleration is therefore margin, share count and the removal of stranded corporate cost, not volume. A 5: one excellent segment, one flat, one shrinking, and an earnings forecast that needs operating leverage on 2% revenue growth."
"Rated 4 — higher than a diversified industrial would normally earn, for one specific and quantified reason. Honeywell owns an equity-method stake in Quantinuum, a quantum-computing company that completed an initial public offering during the June quarter, and the filing states the retained interest's initial fair value at deconsolidation was $7,525 million, 'determined using a market approach based on the observable quoted market price of Quantinuum's common stock.' That is 9.5% of Honeywell's entire market capitalisation, sitting inside it as a separately-quoted, genuinely non-linear asset. The deconsolidation produced a $6,629 million gain against Quantinuum net assets of $1,599 million, and Honeywell recognised $1.1 billion of intangible basis differences and $6.1 billion of equity-method goodwill. The knowledge base's one relevant claim — jensen_huang 2025-04-09, conviction 90 — records Quantinuum as an inaugural partner in a named hybrid quantum-classical research laboratory, which is corroboration that the asset is real rather than notional. Three things hold the score at 4. Honeywell has just given up CONTROL of it and now equity-accounts a minority position, taking amortisation of the intangible basis differences through equity loss — $265 million in the quarter. The remaining 90.5% of the company is building controls, process technology and industrial sensing: high-quality, high-margin, and linear. And the two other genuinely differentiated businesses of the old Honeywell — Aerospace and Advanced Materials — have both been spun away."
What does “fair value” mean?
Fair value is Synthos’s estimate of what one share is worth today, based on our model of the company’s future cash generation and the risks to it. It is not a price target or a prediction of where the stock trades next quarter — it’s the price where we think risk and reward are balanced. Above it, you’re paying for outcomes better than our base case; below it, the market is offering a margin of safety.
The model’s inputs and weightings are proprietary — they’re the product. What we publish is the output, plus an independent, public-math cross-check further down the page (“Check our number”) so you can judge it for yourself.

- "A stock at a 52-week high with an RSI of 77.8, on a price series that three corporate actions have made close to uninterpretable. Honeywell closed 2026-08-04 at $248.79, up 0.82% from $246.77, having traded $245.125 to $250.26 on 2.88 million shares. The computed series reports a 52-week high of $248.79 — today's close, exactly — a low of $188.14, a 50-day average of $229.18 and a 200-day average of $218.67, putting the price 8.6% and 13.8% above them respectively. RSI is 77.8 and MACD +5.74. That series spans a 1-for-2 reverse stock split, the distribution of Honeywell Aerospace and the earlier separation of Solstice Advanced Materials, and it reports a maximum trailing-year drawdown of 0.00% alongside a 12-month return of plus 14.3% and a position 32.2% above the low — three figures that cannot all be true at once. The technicals in this file are used with heavy caveats and Section 8 explains why. The fundamental near-term facts are cleaner: the June quarter beat consensus adjusted EPS by 8.3% ($1.95 against $1.80) on post-spin revenue of $5,187 million, and the surviving segments grew sales 3.4% and profit 4.5%. But the entry is at the high of a series nobody can properly read, seventy-nine days before the first accounts that describe the company."
- What we’re watching
- "The 2026-10-22 print — the FIRST on the post-spin basis — against consensus adjusted EPS of $2.14 and revenue of $5,029 million. Four things that do not currently exist anywhere and will exist that day: the post-spin BALANCE SHEET, including how much of the $33,988 million of June-quarter debt stayed with Honeywell Technologies; the post-spin DIVIDEND rate, against a pre-spin $2.38 per quarter; post-spin FREE CASH FLOW, against a first-half continuing-operations operating cash flow of $626 million that still included Aerospace; and recast prior-period segment results, which the 2026-06-29 8-K says were furnished as Exhibit 99.2 and which were not extracted into this archive. Inside the operating numbers, watch Industrial Automation, whose revenue fell 4.6% year on year, and Process Automation and Technology, whose segment profit fell 3.9% on 4.1% higher sales. And watch the marked value of the Quantinuum stake, now a quoted security worth $7,525 million at deconsolidation."

Neutral- Driver
- "Over one to two years the question is whether a pure-play automation company earns a pure-play automation multiple, and whether the earnings acceleration consensus carries is real. The consensus path is specific: adjusted EPS of $8.320 in 2026, $10.041 in 2027 and $11.553 in 2028, on revenue of $20,178 million, $20,543 million and $21,686 million. Note what that requires — revenue growth of 1.8% in 2027 and 5.6% in 2028 against EPS growth of 20.7% and 15.0%. Almost all of it is margin expansion, the elimination of stranded corporate costs, and share repurchase. The margin case is credible on the evidence: the three surviving segments already run a 22.6% segment margin against a consolidated 23.0% including Aerospace, and Building Automation alone earns 27.1%. The revenue case is weaker: volume was flat in the quarter and negative year to date, and one of three segments is shrinking. Capital allocation is genuinely unknown — fiscal 2025 saw $3,804 million of repurchase and $2,976 million of dividends against $5,422 million of free cash flow on the pre-spin base, and none of those figures survives the separation. Honeywell also guided to approximately $1.3 billion of capital expenditure for 2026 on the pre-spin basis, against $986 million spent in 2025."
- What we’re watching
- "Whether Building Automation sustains high-single-digit revenue growth and 27% margins — it is now the largest and best segment and carries the multiple. Whether Industrial Automation stops shrinking. Whether Process Automation and Technology's margin recovers after a 3.9% profit decline on 4.1% higher sales. Whether stranded corporate cost is actually eliminated rather than merely reallocated; the 8-K states that 'corporate expenses historically allocated to Aerospace Technologies and not eligible to be part of discontinued operations are now included in Corporate and All Other.' Whether the Quantinuum stake is monetised, marked down, or quietly forgotten — at $7,525 million it is 9.5% of the market value and it is now an equity-method line carrying $265 million a quarter of amortisation through equity loss. Whether the post-spin leverage is investment-grade comfortable. And whether Vimal Kapur's team makes further acquisitions after $8,880 million in 2024 and $2,211 million in 2025."

Tailwind- Driver
- "Stripped of aerospace and advanced materials, Honeywell Technologies is a building-controls, process-technology and industrial-automation company — a category that has been one of the best places to own capital for two decades, because installed control systems have very long lives, very high switching costs and a service annuity attached. The three surviving segments earned $1,171 million of profit on $5,182 million of sales in a single quarter, a 22.6% margin, with Building Automation at 27.1%. The end-markets are structurally favourable: building electrification and energy efficiency, refinery and petrochemical process technology through UOP, and industrial sensing and warehouse automation. And the company retains an unusual asset in the Quantinuum stake, which the market values at $7,525 million and which sits outside any operating forecast. The long-run reservation is the one visible in the sales bridge: this company grew volume by zero in the June quarter and minus one percent year to date, and took four points of price to offset inflation. A high-quality franchise that cannot grow units is a bond with an equity multiple, and 24.8x the 2027 consensus is an equity multiple."
- What we’re watching
- "Whether volume growth returns; four points of price with zero volume is not a durable formula. Whether the automation portfolio is coherent enough to earn a peer multiple, or whether a fourth separation follows the three already executed. Whether Quantinuum's quoted value holds — the retained stake at $7,525 million rests on 'the observable quoted market price of Quantinuum's common stock' at the deconsolidation date, and quantum-computing equity valuations are not stable. Whether the $6.1 billion of equity-method goodwill and $1.1 billion of intangible basis differences recognised on that stake survive without impairment. Whether asbestos liabilities — NARCO and Bendix, both disclosed at length in the 10-K — stay contained. And whether a company that has now executed two spin-offs, a reverse split and a deconsolidation in eighteen months settles into operating rather than restructuring."

⚠ Corporate-action banner — three transformations, none of them in the payload
On 2026-06-29, inside two minutes, Honeywell became a different company:
| Time | Event |
|---|---|
| 12:01 a.m. ET | Spin-off of Honeywell Aerospace Inc. completed. Pro rata distribution of one share of Aerospace common stock for every two shares of Honeywell common stock, record date 2026-06-15. Aerospace trades on Nasdaq as HONA. Intended to be tax-free. |
| 12:02 a.m. ET | One-for-two REVERSE STOCK SPLIT effective. "Every two shares of Company Common Stock issued and outstanding or held by Honeywell as treasury shares were automatically combined into one share"; authorised shares cut from 2 billion to 1 billion; new CUSIP 438516205. |
| During Q2 2026 | Quantinuum deconsolidated following its initial public offering. $6,629 million non-cash gain. Retained equity-method stake at an initial fair value of $7,525 million. |
Plus, earlier: Solstice Advanced Materials was separated and is reported as discontinued operations in the 2025 comparatives.
Three consequences that govern this entire dive:
1. The June-quarter 10-Q, filed 2026-07-23, still consolidates Aerospace as CONTINUING operations. From the filing: "For purposes of this report, which covers the quarterly period prior to the completion of the Aerospace Spin-Off, our financial results include the assets, liabilities, and operating results of Honeywell Aerospace as continuing operations." Aerospace becomes discontinued operations only from the third quarter of 2026.
2. There is therefore NO financial statement in this archive describing the company that trades at $248.79. The pro-forma balance sheet and recast segment history exist as Exhibits 99.2 and 99.3 to the 2026-06-29 8-K and were not extracted.
3. The vendor payload mixes two different companies. inc_a, inc_q, bal_a, cf_a, km_ttm and ratios_ttm are all pre-spin (retroactively adjusted for the reverse split); est from 2026 onward and earn_cal from the July print onward are post-spin. Every trailing ratio in the file is void.
What this dive does instead: it reconstructs the surviving company from the 10-Q's segment table, which reports all four segments separately for both years, and values it on the post-spin consensus. Where a number does not exist, this dive says so.

Key stats an RIA wants
1. The three transactions, from the filings
The Aerospace spin-off — 2026-06-29
From the 8-K filed 2026-06-15: "the Board has approved the Spin-Off and declared a pro rata distribution... of all of the issued and outstanding shares of Honeywell Aerospace common stock to the holders of Company common stock as of the close of business on June 15, 2026... The Distribution will be effective as of 12:01 a.m. (New York City time) on June 29, 2026", "on the basis of one share of Aerospace Common Stock for every two shares of Company Common Stock... Aerospace Common Stock will commence trading 'regular way' under the symbol 'HONA' on the Nasdaq Stock Market."
Four directors resigned in connection with it — Craig Arnold, William Ayer, D. Scott Davis and Deborah Flint — and James Currier resigned as an executive officer of Honeywell to become President and Chief Executive Officer of Honeywell Aerospace.
From the 10-Q: "Following the Aerospace Spin-Off, Honeywell International Inc. now operates as Honeywell Technologies... Following the Aerospace Spin-Off, we now manage our businesses through three reportable business segments: Building Automation, Process Automation and Technology, and Industrial Automation."
And the timing that matters: "the historical financial results of Honeywell Aerospace will be reflected in Honeywell Technologies' consolidated financial statements as discontinued operations. For purposes of this report, which covers the quarterly period prior to the completion of the Aerospace Spin-Off, our financial results include the assets, liabilities, and operating results of Honeywell Aerospace as continuing operations."
The reverse stock split — 2026-06-29, one minute later
> "At 12:02 a.m., New York City time, on June 29, 2026, the previously announced reverse stock split of Company Common Stock became effective. As a result of the reverse stock split, every two shares of Company Common Stock issued and outstanding or held by Honeywell as treasury shares were automatically combined into one share of Company Common Stock and the number of authorized shares of Company Common Stock was reduced from 2 billion to 1 billion."
All share and per-share amounts in the 10-Q and in the vendor payload have been retrospectively adjusted for it. That is why inc_a shows fiscal-2025 diluted EPS of $14.72 on 321.4 million shares — figures that never appeared in any Honeywell report at the time.
Quantinuum — deconsolidated on its IPO
> "The Company recognized a gain of $6,629 million during the three and six months ended June 30, 2026, as a result of the deconsolidation of Quantinuum. The gain was calculated as the difference between (i) the aggregate of the fair value of the retained interest in the former subsidiaries and the carrying value of the non-controlling interest... and (ii) the carrying value of the assets and liabilities of the former subsidiaries. The initial fair value of the retained investment of $7,525 million at the date of deconsolidation was determined using a market approach based on the observable quoted market price of Quantinuum's common stock. At the date of deconsolidation, the carrying value of the non-controlling interest in the former subsidiary was $703 million and the carrying value of Quantinuum's net assets was $1,599 million... The Company identified basis differences related to intangible assets of $1.1 billion and equity method goodwill of $6.1 billion."
No cash was contributed or received. Honeywell now equity-accounts a minority stake worth $7,525 million at listing — 9.5% of its own market capitalisation — and amortises the intangible basis differences through equity loss, which was $265 million in the quarter.
2. The surviving company, reconstructed
The 10-Q's segment note is the only place Honeywell Technologies appears, and it reports all four segments for both years. Subtracting Aerospace gives the survivor.

Capital expenditure and depreciation, same table: Building Automation $35M capex / $57M depreciation; Process Automation and Technology $73M / $38M; Industrial Automation $35M / $36M; Corporate $54M / $65M. Survivor capital expenditure in the quarter: approximately $197M including corporate, against $196M of depreciation — roughly a 1.0x ratio, which is what a capital-light controls business should look like.
Three readings.
Building Automation is now the company. At $2,002M of sales it is 38.6% of the survivor's revenue and $542M of profit is 46.3% of its profit, at a 27.1% margin, up from 26.2%. It grew 9.6% while the group grew 3.4%. Everything in the consensus earnings acceleration runs through this segment.
Industrial Automation is shrinking. Revenue fell 4.6% year on year. Profit was flat at $258M, so the margin improved to 17.2% from 16.3% — but a 17.2% margin on falling revenue is the weakest position in the portfolio. Part of the decline is the disposal of the personal protective equipment business, which the 10-Q names as a drag on consolidated sales.
Process Automation and Technology's profit fell on higher sales. $1,679M of revenue against $1,613M (+4.1%) produced $371M of profit against $386M (−3.9%), with the margin falling from 23.9% to 22.1%. This segment was created in the first quarter of 2026 out of UOP and the core of Process Solutions, so a single quarter of comparison is thin — but the direction is wrong.
The sales bridge, which is the least comfortable table in this dive
| Q2 2026 vs Q2 2025 | Year to date | |
|---|---|---|
| Volume | 0% | −1% |
| Price | +4% | +4% |
| Foreign currency translation | +1% | +1% |
| Acquisitions | +1% | +1% |
| Divestitures | −2% | −2% |
| Total change in net sales | +4% | +3% |
Honeywell sold no more units in the June quarter than a year earlier, and fewer over six months. The filing attributes the growth to "increased pricing and price adjustments to offset inflation", favourable currency and acquisitions, "partially offset by lower sales from the divestiture of the personal protective equipment (PPE) business." A 4% price increase that offsets inflation is not margin expansion; it is standing still with a bigger number on it.
3. Reported earnings, and why they should be ignored
Three months ended June 30, from the 10-Q ($M except per share):
| Q2 2026 | Q2 2025 | |
|---|---|---|
| Net sales | 9,719 | 9,322 |
| Total cost of products and services sold | 6,066 | 5,658 |
| Research and development | 524 | 459 |
| Selling, general and administrative | 1,344 | 1,362 |
| Impairment of assets held for sale | 48 | — |
| Gain on deconsolidation of subsidiary | (6,629) | — |
| Other (income) expense | 472 | (113) |
| Interest and other financial charges | 363 | 329 |
| Income from continuing operations before taxes | 7,529 | 1,627 |
| Tax expense | 1,578 | 244 |
| Equity loss | 265 | — |
| Net income from continuing operations | 5,686 | 1,383 |
| Net income from discontinued operations (Solstice) | — | 186 |
| Net income attributable to Honeywell Technologies | 5,682 | 1,570 |
| Diluted EPS from continuing operations | $17.83 | $4.33 |
Strip the $6,629 million gain and pre-tax income from continuing operations was approximately $900 million against $1,627 million a year earlier — a decline, driven by a $472 million "other expense" against $113 million of other income, a $48 million impairment, and $34 million more interest. That comparison still includes Aerospace and still includes $265 million of Quantinuum equity loss, so it is not the survivor's earnings either.
The adjusted figure that analysts use is not in this archive. The second-quarter earnings release is Exhibit 99 to the 8-K filed 2026-07-23 and was not extracted. What the payload's earn_cal records is that the print delivered adjusted EPS of $1.95 against a $1.80 consensus — an 8.3% beat — on revenue of $5,187 million, which is the post-spin revenue and reconciles to the segment table's $5,182 million plus $5 million of Quantinuum.
And the $6,629 million gain destroys every trailing ratio in the file. priceToEarningsRatioTTM reads 9.197x; netProfitMarginTTM reads 22.73%; ebitdaMarginTTM reads 34.74%; earningsYieldTTM reads 10.41%. All four divide by, or are computed on, a trailing twelve months containing a one-off non-cash gain equal to 8.4% of the company's market capitalisation. All four are rejected.
4. Balance sheet and cash — pre-spin, and therefore provisional
From the 10-Q at 2026-06-30, against 2025-12-31 ($M). Both columns are PRE-spin.
| 2026-06-30 | 2025-12-31 | |
|---|---|---|
| Cash and cash equivalents | 8,751 | 12,487 |
| Total current assets | 28,079 | 30,387 |
| Total assets | 77,344 | 73,681 |
| Commercial paper and other short-term borrowings | 2,478 | 5,893 |
| Current maturities of long-term debt | 5,282 | 1,546 |
| Total current liabilities | 23,194 | 23,414 |
| Long-term debt | 26,228 | 27,141 |
| Total debt | 33,988 | 34,580 |
| Net debt | 25,237 | 22,093 |
| Total shareowners' equity | 18,857 | 15,030 |
| Noncontrolling interest | 320 | 1,126 |
| Shares outstanding (millions) | 316.9 | — |
The non-controlling interest fell from $1,126M to $320M, and the 10-Q's equity statement shows why: a $703 million reduction labelled "Loss of control of Quantinuum."
Cash flow, first six months ($M):
| H1 2026 | H1 2025 | |
|---|---|---|
| Operating cash flow — continuing operations | 626 | 1,442 |
| Operating cash flow — discontinued operations | — | 474 |
| Total operating cash flow | 626 | 1,916 |
Operating cash flow from continuing operations fell 57% year on year in the first half, and that figure still includes Aerospace. No explanation is extractable from the archive. This is the single most concerning unexplained number in the file, and the first opportunity to understand it is 2026-10-22.
Fiscal-2025 figures, pre-spin, for reference only: operating cash flow $6,408M (filed), capital expenditure $986M (filed), free cash flow $5,422M; repurchases $3,804M; dividends $2,976M; acquisitions $2,211M (against $8,880M in fiscal 2024). Capital-expenditure guidance for 2026 was approximately $1.3 billion on the pre-spin basis. None of these figures survives the separation and none is used in the valuation.
The dividend, likewise. The 10-Q reports cash dividends per share of $2.38 in the June quarter and $4.76 for the half on the split-adjusted basis — $9.52 annualised, a 3.83% yield at today's price. That is a pre-spin rate. Honeywell Aerospace will pay its own dividend and the Honeywell Technologies rate has not been disclosed in this archive. The payload's dividendPerShareTTM of $9.40 and dividendYieldTTM of 3.78% are therefore backward-looking and not applicable to a forward yield.
5. Valuation — priced in or room?
At $248.79 on 316.9 million shares (market capitalisation $78.85B). Everything below is on the POST-SPIN consensus, which is the only forward-looking data in the file that describes the right company.
| FY2026E | FY2027E | FY2028E | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Consensus adjusted EPS | $8.320 (9) | $10.041 (9) | $11.553 (4) |
| EPS growth | — | +20.7% | +15.0% |
| P/E | 29.9x | 24.8x | 21.5x |
| Consensus EPS range | $8.149–$8.421 | $9.292–$10.770 | $10.507–$12.515 |
| Consensus revenue ($M) | 20,178 (13) | 20,543 (13) | 21,686 (11) |
| Revenue growth | — | +1.8% | +5.6% |
Read the last two rows together, because they contain the entire question. Consensus expects revenue to grow 1.8% in 2027 and earnings per share to grow 20.7%. That gap has to come from margin expansion, the elimination of stranded corporate cost, a lower share count and possibly a lower tax rate. Some of it is legitimate — the survivor's 22.6% segment margin already exceeds the consolidated 23.0% only slightly, and Aerospace was carrying allocated corporate expense that the 8-K says now sits in Corporate and All Other. But 20.7% earnings growth on 1.8% revenue growth is the single most demanding forecast in this batch, and it is being paid for at 29.9x the current year.
The trailing price-to-earnings ratio of 9.20x in the payload should be ignored for the reason set out in Section 3, and the fiscal-2025 comparison in est should be ignored too — that row shows revenue of $38,904M against 2026's $20,178M, which is the spin, not a collapse.
est.ebitdaAvg and est.ebitAvg are rejected. In all eight years from 2023 to 2030 ebitdaAvg is exactly 23.6898% of revenueAvg and ebitAvg exactly 20.2863%, to four decimal places, spanning a period in which the company halved. A ratio that is constant across a spin-off is not a forecast. All forward valuation uses epsAvg only.
Enterprise value is not computed. The vendor prints enterpriseValueTTM of $98,806.5M, built on a pre-spin balance sheet. Rebuilding it on the June-quarter figures gives $78,851.5M + $33,988M − $8,751M + $320M = $104,408M — but that is also pre-spin, because we do not know how much debt left with Aerospace. No enterprise-value multiple appears anywhere in this dive. netDebtToEBITDATTM of 1.59x and evToEBITDATTM of 7.87x are both rejected as combining a pre-spin balance sheet with a gain-inflated EBITDA.
5a. What today's price assumes (the inversion)
At $248.79 — 29.9x the 2026 consensus and 24.8x 2027 — the price embeds roughly:
- Post-spin adjusted EPS of $8.32 in 2026 and $10.04 in 2027. (Consensus; 9 analysts each.) The June quarter delivered $1.95 and the September consensus is $2.14. The 2027 figure requires 20.7% growth on 1.8% revenue growth.
- Building Automation keeps compounding near 10% at a 27% margin. (Our derivation from the segment table.) This is the most fragile assumption in the price. Building Automation is 38.6% of the survivor's revenue and 46.3% of its profit, and it is the only one of three segments doing what the consensus needs. If it decelerates to the group's 3.4%, the earnings acceleration does not happen.
- Volume growth returns. (Our number; the filing supplies the bridge.) Volume was 0% in the quarter and −1% year to date, with four points of price "to offset inflation." A forecast of 5.6% revenue growth in 2028 requires units, and there are none today.
- Stranded corporate cost is genuinely eliminated. (Company framing, half-weighted.) The 8-K states that corporate expenses historically allocated to Aerospace "and not eligible to be part of discontinued operations are now included in Corporate and All Other." That is stranded cost by definition, and the consensus assumes it goes away.
- The Quantinuum stake holds its $7,525 million value. (Filing-derived.) It is 9.5% of market capitalisation, marked to a quoted price at the deconsolidation date, in one of the most volatile equity categories in existence.
- The market keeps paying roughly 25x forward earnings. (Our number.) At 21x FY2027E the stock is $211; at 29x it is $291.
5b. The return bridge (why the multiple moves)
Expected return over the next twelve months decomposes as adjusted EPS growth (+20.7%, from FY2026E $8.320 to FY2027E $10.041) + multiple drift + shareholder yield (UNKNOWN).
The third term cannot be estimated and that is itself the finding. The pre-spin dividend of $9.52 annualised and the fiscal-2025 repurchase of $3,804 million both belong to a company that no longer exists; the post-spin rates have not been disclosed. Any total-return calculation for Honeywell today has a blank in it.
Our base assumes the multiple COMPRESSES, from today's 24.8x on the 2027 year to 24.0x. That is a deliberate 3% haircut for the measurement problem rather than a view on the business. At an unchanged 24.8x, fair value on the 2027 consensus is $248.79 — spot exactly — and the entire return would be next year's earnings growth plus an unknown yield. Most of the return in our base is earnings growth, and the earnings growth requires operating leverage on 1.8% revenue growth.
Sensitivity: on the FY2027E consensus mean of $10.041, 18x = $181, 21x = $211, 24x = $241, 24.8x = $249 (spot), 29x = $291, 32x = $321.
5c. Variant perception (where we differ, what would surprise)
- We are 8.9% below the street, and the gap is a discount for unmeasurability rather than a different forecast. Our $241 against consensus $264.50, using the street's own EPS at a slightly lower multiple. We do not claim to know the post-spin balance sheet better than the analysts covering it; we are declining to pay a full multiple for a company whose accounts do not exist. That is a stance, not an insight, and it is labelled as one.
- We think the volume line is being under-weighted. Consensus has revenue growing 5.6% in 2028; the company grew units by minus one percent in the first half and took four points of price to offset inflation. Watchable number: the volume line in the 2026-10-22 sales bridge. A second consecutive quarter of zero or negative volume with the multiple at 25x is a genuine negative surprise.
- We think the Quantinuum stake is a real and under-discussed asset and also a real and under-discussed risk. $7,525 million is 9.5% of the market capitalisation, marked to a quoted price, in quantum computing. Neither the consensus earnings estimates nor any conventional multiple captures it. Positive surprise: a mark-up or partial monetisation. Negative surprise: an impairment of the $6.1 billion of equity-method goodwill recognised on it.
- We differ from the vendor data more comprehensively than on any other name in this batch (Section 8): the payload contains a pre-spin income statement and balance sheet alongside post-spin estimates, its trailing price-to-earnings ratio is computed on a $6,629 million one-off gain, its segment labels are three reorganisations out of date, its non-controlling interest reads zero against a filed $1,126 million, and its technical series reports a 0.00% maximum drawdown across a year containing two spin-offs and a reverse split. Anyone screening this name on this payload is looking at three different companies at once.
- Positive surprise that would force a re-rate: a post-spin balance sheet showing net leverage below 2x; a dividend maintained at more than half the pre-spin rate; Building Automation sustaining double-digit growth; volume turning positive; or a Quantinuum mark-up.
- Negative surprise that would break the thesis: post-spin leverage above 3x; a second quarter of negative volume; Industrial Automation continuing to shrink; the first-half operating cash flow decline proving structural rather than timing; or a Quantinuum write-down.
Synthos fair values
All three anchors are multiples of the post-spin FY2027 consensus adjusted EPS distribution — mean $10.0406, low $9.29174, high $10.76975, 9 analysts — cross-checked against the FY2026 and FY2028 rows. These anchors are explicitly PROVISIONAL: they are struck on consensus estimates for a company whose financial statements have not been published, and they will be revised on 2026-10-22.
- Bear ~$167 — 18.0x the FY2027 consensus LOW of $9.292. Cross-check: 20.1x FY2026E; 11.2% below the 52-week low of $188.14. The scenario: the post-spin balance sheet is more levered than expected, stranded corporate cost proves sticky, volume stays negative, Industrial Automation keeps shrinking, the Quantinuum stake is marked down, and a company with 2% revenue growth re-rates to a low-twenties multiple on a lower base. −32.9%.
- Base ~$241 — 24.0x the FY2027 consensus MEAN of $10.041. Cross-check: 29.0x FY2026E; 20.9x FY2028E. The scenario: Building Automation carries the group, stranded cost is removed, margins expand as consensus expects, and the multiple holds within 3% of today's. −3.1%.
- Bull ~$323 — 30.0x the FY2027 consensus HIGH of $10.770. Cross-check: 28.0x FY2028E; 29.8% above the 52-week high; 8.4% above the street's high target of $298. The scenario: the survivor is revealed as a clean, low-capital, 25%-margin automation company with modest leverage, volume returns, the Quantinuum stake is marked up or monetised, and the market pays a pure-play multiple. +29.8%.
Base is 3.1% BELOW spot; asymmetry roughly 0.91:1 — marginally against. On the arithmetic alone this is a Hold. The Watch designation is explained in Section 10 and rests entirely on the 2026-10-22 information event.
6. Knowledge base — zero claims, one homograph, one relevant partner announcement
Raw hits: 2. Exact case-sensitive entity matches: 2. Claims naming Honeywell: 0.
The sweep ran entity terms HON, Honeywell, Quantinuum, HONA and Solstice, plus free text on "honeywell", "quantinuum" and "hon hai", across all 52,021 distilled claims. The term "hon hai" was included deliberately, because HON is a three-letter ticker that collides with Hon Hai Precision Industry. It produced nothing, which is the clean result. Not one claim in the store names Honeywell.
The two hits, and one of them is a textbook false positive:
> 2026-04-14 · bullish · conviction 45 · thesis · entities: Solstice · channel: money_of_mine · speaker: Rick Squire · role: independent
> "Solstice's Archaean copper discovery in WA is interesting — Nick Castle showed him RC chips suggesting an unusual magmatic system, unlike the potty high-grade hits (e.g. Lefroy) that fade."
That is Solstice Minerals, an Australian copper explorer in Western Australia. It has nothing to do with Solstice Advanced Materials, the specialty-chemicals business Honeywell separated. DISCARDED on content mismatch. It is recorded rather than silently dropped because it is the exact failure mode this programme has documented — a spun-off subsidiary's name colliding with an unrelated small-cap — and because the collision was caught only by reading the claim text. An entity-list match on "Solstice" would have carried a bullish mining claim into an industrial dive.
> 2025-04-09 · bullish · conviction 90 · fact · entities: NVIDIA, Quantum Machines, Quantinuum · channel: jensen_huang · no named speaker
> "NVIDIA is opening an advanced hybrid quantum-classical research lab in Boston near Harvard/MIT, with Quantum Machines and Quantinuum as inaugural partners."
This one IS Honeywell's Quantinuum and it is genuinely relevant — it is independent corroboration that the asset now worth $7,525 million on Honeywell's balance sheet is a serious participant rather than a corporate research project. But it is a factual announcement made on the partner's own channel about the partner's own laboratory, which is promoter-class under the four-lane policy: first-class as a fact about what was announced, low-weight as a judgement. It informs the exponential score of 4 and enters no conviction number. Both hits carry speaker: null or an unrelated speaker; neither carries a management speaker_role on Honeywell.
Conclusion. Breadth 0, claim count 0, net conviction none. The Synthos knowledge base has no view on Honeywell. This is the fourteenth name-level void found and published in this programme rather than padded, and it is the second in this batch in which the sweep's only output was a homograph.
7. Technicals — and why they cannot be used normally
- Price $248.79, +0.82%. The computed series reports a 52-week high of $248.79 — today's close, to the cent — and a low of $188.14. Position within the annual range: 100th percentile.
- +8.6% above the 50-day of $229.18 and +13.8% above the 200-day of $218.67.
- RSI 77.8 — overbought, and the second-highest in this batch. MACD +5.74.
- The series is internally inconsistent and this dive says so. It reports a maximum trailing-year drawdown of 0.00% alongside a 12-month return of +14.3% and a position 32.2% above the 52-week low. Those three cannot all be true: a stock that never fell from its running peak and is 32% above its 52-week low must have returned roughly 32% over the window, not 14.3%. The most likely explanation is that
max_dd_from_peakis the CURRENT drawdown from the running peak rather than the maximum over the year — it is identical topct_from_hiin this file and in three others in this batch — and that the return series spans two spin-offs and a reverse split with inconsistent adjustment. Treat all technical figures for Honeywell as indicative only. - Relative performance, with the same caveat: 3-month +18.7% against SPY +7.6%; 6-month +9.3% against +11.1%; 12-month +14.3% against SPY +24.3%.
- Sentiment: 20 buy, 10 hold, 0 sell across 30 analysts; consensus target $264.50 (+6.3%), median $265, high $298 (+19.8%), low $239 (−4.0%). The entire target range spans 23.7% of the price, and no analyst has a sell rating on a company whose accounts do not yet exist.
8. Data integrity — what we rejected and why
Ten findings. Honeywell's payload is the least usable in this batch, and the reason is not vendor error in the ordinary sense: the file contains three different companies.
1. The payload mixes PRE-SPIN statements with POST-SPIN estimates — REJECTED as a coherent set. inc_a, inc_q, bal_a, cf_a, km_ttm and ratios_ttm are all pre-spin (with share and per-share amounts retroactively reverse-split-adjusted). est from the 2026 row onward and earn_cal from the 2026-07-23 print onward are post-spin. The discontinuity is visible in the est block itself: FY2025 revenue $38,904M against FY2026 revenue $20,178M. No ratio that combines a statement item with an estimate item is valid.
2. priceToEarningsRatioTTM of 9.197x is VOID — it divides by a $6,629 million one-off gain. Trailing earnings include the Quantinuum deconsolidation gain, which is 8.4% of the company's market capitalisation and entirely non-cash. Rejected with it: netProfitMarginTTM (22.73%), earningsYieldTTM (10.41%), netIncomePerShareTTM ($25.89), ebitdaMarginTTM (34.74%), returnOnEquityTTM (41.71%), returnOnAssetsTTM and grahamNumberTTM ($215.25). The forward figures in this dive use epsAvg on the post-spin estimate rows only.
3. inc_q prior-year quarters are on a different basis from the current ones — year-on-year comparison in the payload is INVALID. The payload reports June-2025 revenue of $10,352M; the 10-Q, restated for the Solstice separation, reports $9,322M for the same quarter. The $1,030M difference is Solstice Advanced Materials. A reader comparing the payload's Q2 2026 ($9,719M) with its Q2 2025 ($10,352M) would conclude revenue fell 6.1%; the filing shows it ROSE 4.3%. Every quarterly growth rate in this dive comes from the filing.
4. minorityInterest reads ZERO for fiscal 2025 against a filed $1,126 million — NCI OMITTED. The 10-Q balance sheet shows non-controlling interest of $1,126M at 2025-12-31 and $320M at 2026-06-30, with the $703M reduction attributed to the loss of control of Quantinuum. The payload's bal_a FY2025 row reads minorityInterest: 0, totalEquity equal to totalStockholdersEquity, retainedEarnings: 0 and treasuryStock: 0 — four fields that carry correct values in the FY2024 and FY2023 rows and are blank or zero in the most recent one. This is a partial-row corruption in the balance sheet, and the NCI omission is the confirmed defect class. Note also that totalStockholdersEquity of $15,440M does not match the filed $15,030M at 2025-12-31 — a $410M difference.
5. seg_prod labels are three reorganisations out of date — REJECTED. The payload's fiscal-2025 entry reads "Home And Building Technologies" $7,367M, "Aerospace" $17,510M, "Safety And Productivity Solutions" $9,401M and "Energy and Sustainability Solutions" $3,134M. Honeywell's actual fiscal-2025 reportable segments were Aerospace Technologies, Building Automation, Industrial Automation and Energy and Sustainability Solutions; in the first quarter of 2026 those were realigned again to create Process Automation and Technology; and since 2026-06-29 there have been three. The dollar figures sum to $37,412M against a filed $37,442M (0.08% off), so the amounts are approximately right and the labels are stale XBRL member names. All segment analysis in this dive comes from the 10-Q's own table.
6. seg_geo is coarse but ties. Fiscal 2025: United States $21,784M, Europe $8,112M, Other International $7,546M = $37,442M — the filed revenue exactly. The tie is clean and the block is usable, with the caveat that "Other International" at 20.2% of revenue conceals China, the Middle East and everything else in one line. This is a disclosure-granularity limitation rather than a defect, and it is distinguished from the seg_geo failures found elsewhere in this programme.
7. est.ebitdaAvg and est.ebitAvg carry the fixed-ratio fabrication signature ACROSS the spin-off — REJECTED. In all eight years from 2023 to 2030, ebitdaAvg is exactly 23.6898% of revenueAvg and ebitAvg exactly 20.2863%, to four decimal places — including across the boundary at which revenue halves from $38,904M to $20,178M. A margin assumption that survives a corporate separation unchanged is not a forecast. All forward valuation uses epsAvg only.
8. The technical series is usable; one field is misnamed (see below). max_dd_from_peak reads 0.00%, identical to pct_from_hi, against a 12-month return of +14.28% and a position 32.24% above the 52-week low. These cannot all describe the same series. The field appears to be the current drawdown from the running peak rather than a trailing-year maximum — it is identical to pct_from_hi in four of the five files examined in this batch — and the price history spans a 1-for-2 reverse split, the Aerospace distribution and the earlier Solstice separation. Reported and flagged; no technical figure carries weight in the verdict.
9. dividendPerShareTTM of $9.40 and dividendYieldTTM of 3.78% are backward-looking and NOT a forward yield. The 10-Q reports $2.38 per share in the June quarter on the split-adjusted basis, $9.52 annualised. Both are pre-spin. Honeywell Aerospace will pay its own dividend and the Honeywell Technologies rate is undisclosed. No dividend yield is used in the return bridge, and the return bridge says so.
10. enterpriseValueTTM of $98,806.5M is built on a pre-spin balance sheet — REJECTED, and NOT rebuilt. Rebuilding on the June-quarter figures gives $104,408M, which is also pre-spin because the allocation of $33,988 million of debt between Honeywell Technologies and Honeywell Aerospace is not disclosed in this archive. No enterprise-value multiple appears anywhere in this dive. netDebtToEBITDATTM (1.59x), evToEBITDATTM (7.87x) and evToFreeCashFlowTTM (23.99x) are all rejected.
Verified clean — recorded, because on a file this compromised a clean field is worth having:
capitalExpenditurematches the 10-K EXACTLY in all three years — $(986)M, $(871)M and $(741)M against the filed "Capital expenditures | (986) | (871) | (741)" and the MD&A's "$986 million of capital expenditures."- The share count is EXACT. Market capitalisation ÷ price gives 316,943,000; the 10-Q equity statement shows 316.9 million shares at 2026-06-30.
bal_aFY2025 debt is correct and is NOT inflated by leases.shortTermDebt$7,439M reconciles exactly to the filed commercial paper of $5,893M plus current maturities of $1,546M;longTermDebt$27,141M matches;totalDebt$34,580M matches; andcapitalLeaseObligationsreads 0, correctly. The operating-lease inflation and double-count defect classes were both checked and neither applies.cf_aFY2024 operating cash flow of $6,097M matches the 10-K exactly; FY2025's $6,379M is $29M (0.45%) below the filed $6,408M, a difference small enough to be a continuing-versus-total-operations presentation choice.seg_geoties to filed revenue to the dollar (finding 6).earn_calcorrectly switched to the post-spin basis at the 2026-07-23 print, recording revenue of $5,187M against the prior quarter's $9,143M — the vendor got the basis change right in this block even though it got it wrong everywhere else.
Peer set — accepted as broadly reasonable and now partly obsolete. The vendor peers are ADP, Deere, Eaton, General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, 3M, Northrop Grumman, Parker-Hannifin, Trane Technologies and Union Pacific. Eaton, Parker-Hannifin, 3M and Trane are genuine comparables for the post-spin automation company; Lockheed, Northrop and General Dynamics were comparables for the business that left on 2026-06-29; ADP and Union Pacific are not comparables for anything Honeywell does. Emerson and Rockwell Automation, the two closest peers to the survivor, are absent. No peer-multiple comparison is drawn.
Vendor composite rating — REJECTED outright. rating gives A− / 4 overall, its highest reading in this batch, with 4 on price-to-earnings. That sub-score is computed on the 9.20x trailing multiple containing the $6,629 million one-off gain. The rating block is describing a company that earned $6.6 billion for free, and it should carry no weight at all.
Non-equity tripwire — checked and passed, with one note. HON is common stock, Nasdaq-listed, 316.9 million shares outstanding at 2026-06-30 following a 1-for-2 reverse split effective 2026-06-29, new CUSIP 438516205. Beta 0.93; volume 2.88 million shares (~$716M of turnover). The reverse split is the reason the price is $248.79 rather than roughly $124, and any historical price comparison that does not adjust for it is wrong by a factor of two. This is common equity.
9. Insiders — eight small transactions, one open-market sale the day before
| Date | Person | Role | Type | Shares | Price | Held after |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-08-03 | Kenneth J. West | President/CEO Process Technologies | S-Sale | 316 | $245.47 | 2,004 |
| 2026-07-30 | Michal Stepniak | SrVP & Chief Financial Officer | M-Exempt | 604 | $0 | 2,968 |
| 2026-07-30 | Michal Stepniak | SrVP & Chief Financial Officer | F-InKind | 263 | $239.89 | 2,705 |
| 2026-07-30 | Michal Stepniak | SrVP & Chief Financial Officer | M-Exempt | 604 | $0 | 0 |
| 2026-07-30 | Kenneth J. West | President/CEO Process Technologies | M-Exempt | 403 | $0 | 2,535 |
| 2026-07-30 | Kenneth J. West | President/CEO Process Technologies | F-InKind | 215 | $239.89 | 2,320 |
| 2026-07-30 | Kenneth J. West | President/CEO Process Technologies | M-Exempt | 403 | $0 | 0 |
| 2026-07-30 | Su Ping Lu | SrVP, General Counsel, Corporate Secretary | M-Exempt | 471 | $0 | 5,531 |
The transactions are tiny and mechanical. Six of eight are option exercises (M-Exempt) and tax withholdings (F-InKind) executed on a single day, 2026-07-30, one week after the earnings release. The one open-market decision is Kenneth West's sale of 316 shares at $245.47 on 2026-08-03, the day before this dive — approximately $78,000, and a 13.6% reduction in a 2,320-share position.
Two observations. The absolute holdings are remarkably small — the chief financial officer holds 2,705 shares, roughly $673,000, and the general counsel 5,531. Whether that reflects genuine low ownership or a payload that captures only a subset of holdings cannot be determined from this file, and it is recorded as an observation rather than a conclusion. And there is not one open-market purchase, at a moment when management knows the post-spin financials and the market does not. That asymmetry is worth naming even though a 316-share sale is not evidence of anything.
10. Verdict, kill-criteria and flip conditions
Watch.
Why the arithmetic alone would say Hold, stated first and without softening. At $248.79 Honeywell trades at 29.9x the 2026 post-spin consensus of $8.32 and 24.8x 2027's $10.04. Our base of $241 is 3.1% BELOW spot, with 0.91:1 asymmetry — 32.9% of downside against 29.8% of upside. There is no shareholder yield to add, because the post-spin dividend rate has not been disclosed. The stock closed at its 52-week high with an RSI of 77.8. On the numbers this is a Hold and we are not going to dress it as anything better.
Why the designation is nonetheless Watch. On 2026-10-22 — seventy-nine days from this dive — Honeywell will publish the first financial statements describing the company that exists today. That report will contain, for the first time anywhere: a post-spin balance sheet, showing how much of $33,988 million of debt stayed behind; a post-spin dividend rate, against a pre-spin $2.38 per quarter; a post-spin free-cash-flow figure, against a first-half continuing-operations operating cash flow of $626 million that fell 57% and still included Aerospace; and recast prior-period segment results on the three-segment basis. None of that exists now. A fair value struck without it is provisional by construction, and ours is labelled provisional. Watch is the correct designation for a name whose central uncertainty has a date on it.
What we can say about the business, because it is reconstructible. The three surviving segments earned $1,171 million of profit on $5,182 million of sales in the June quarter — a 22.6% margin, up from 22.4% — with Building Automation growing 9.6% at a 27.1% margin. That is a high-quality automation franchise. What tempers it: volume growth was ZERO in the quarter and MINUS 1% year to date, all four points of sales growth were price "to offset inflation", Industrial Automation's revenue fell 4.6%, and Process Automation and Technology's profit fell 3.9% on higher sales. And the consensus that justifies the multiple requires 20.7% earnings growth on 1.8% revenue growth in 2027.
And one asset that sits outside all of it. The retained Quantinuum stake, marked at $7,525 million at deconsolidation on the observable quoted price of its shares, is 9.5% of Honeywell's market capitalisation and appears in no earnings estimate. It is the single most interesting thing on this balance sheet and it is also $6.1 billion of equity-method goodwill in a category whose valuations move violently.
Pre-registered UPGRADE conditions — what would take this to Buy — Tactical:
- A post-spin balance sheet on 2026-10-22 showing net leverage below approximately 2.0x, with a maintained investment-grade profile.
- A post-spin dividend at more than half the pre-spin rate, restoring a computable shareholder yield to the return bridge.
- Volume growth turning positive in the sales bridge, against 0% and −1%.
- Building Automation sustaining high-single-digit growth at a 27%-plus margin for a second quarter.
- A price below approximately $211, which is 21x the FY2027 consensus mean and would restore asymmetry above 1.5:1 without any change to the estimates.
Pre-registered KILL criteria — what would take this to Hold or Avoid:
- Post-spin net leverage above 3.0x, or a dividend cut of more than half.
- A second consecutive quarter of zero or negative volume growth.
- Industrial Automation revenue declining again, or Process Automation and Technology's margin falling further from 22.1%.
- The first-half operating-cash-flow decline proving structural rather than a timing or separation effect.
- A Quantinuum write-down, against $6.1 billion of equity-method goodwill and a $7,525 million carrying value.
- A break below the 200-day moving average of $218.67 on company-specific news — bearing in mind that the moving averages themselves span a reverse split and two separations.
Where HON fits in the Synthos Framework Portfolio. Not entered today, and explicitly not entered because we cannot see the company. Placed on the watch list with a trigger price of ~$211 and, more importantly, an event trigger of the 2026-10-22 post-spin accounts. Sizing note: the correct response to a business you like at a price you do not, whose financial statements will be published on a known date seventy-nine days out, is to wait seventy-nine days. Logged as a tracked Synthos call (Watch) as of 2026-08-04 at $248.79, with the provisional fair-value anchors, kill criteria and upgrade conditions all gradeable.
Single biggest risk: that the company cannot be measured, and the price is at its high anyway. Every conventional check this programme runs failed here for a structural reason rather than a vendor one. The trailing price-to-earnings ratio contains a $6,629 million non-cash gain. The balance sheet is pre-spin. The dividend is pre-spin. The free-cash-flow figure is pre-spin and fell 57% in the half with no extractable explanation. The segment labels are three reorganisations old. The technical series reports a 0.00% drawdown across a year containing two spin-offs and a reverse split. What we have instead is nine analysts' estimates for a company none of them has seen audited accounts for, and a stock at its 52-week high with an RSI of 77.8. That combination — high price, high momentum, zero visibility — is where capital is most reliably lost, and the fact that the underlying business is genuinely good does not change it.
Provenance & disclosures
- Traceability: ZERO knowledge-base claims name Honeywell out of 52,021 distilled claims. The sweep ran entity terms HON, Honeywell, Quantinuum, HONA and Solstice plus free text on "honeywell", "quantinuum" and "hon hai" — the last included deliberately, because HON collides with Hon Hai Precision Industry, and it produced nothing. Two raw hits, both exact case-sensitive entity matches, neither about Honeywell as an equity.
money_of_mine2026-04-14 (bullish 45, speaker Rick Squire, independent) concerns Solstice Minerals, an Australian copper explorer in Western Australia — not Honeywell's Solstice Advanced Materials — and is DISCARDED on content mismatch; it is recorded because it is precisely the documented failure mode in which a spun-off subsidiary's name collides with an unrelated small-cap, and because only reading the claim text caught it.jensen_huang2025-04-09 (bullish 90) records Quantinuum as an inaugural partner in a named NVIDIA hybrid quantum-classical laboratory — genuinely relevant to the $7,525 million retained stake, but a factual announcement on the partner's own channel, treated as promoter-class, informing the exponential score and entering no conviction number. Breadth 0, claim count 0, net conviction none. Those two exhibits are precisely the documents that would let this company be valued properly, and their absence is the reason every fair value in this dive is labelled provisional. No peer-multiple comparison is drawn.
- Fair-value caveat, and it is stronger here than on any other name in this batch: the $167 / $241 / $323 anchors are multiples of the post-spin FY2027 consensus adjusted EPS distribution — 18.0x the low of $9.29174, 24.0x the mean of $10.0406 and 30.0x the high of $10.76975. They are struck on analyst estimates for a company whose financial statements have never been published, and they are explicitly PROVISIONAL. Stated arithmetic, not a discounted cash flow. The base is sensitivity-disclosed: 18x gives $181, 21x gives $211, 24.8x gives $248.79 — spot exactly — and 29x gives $291. The base assumes a 3% multiple compression from today's level, taken as a discount for unmeasurability rather than as a view on the business. The return bridge contains a BLANK where shareholder yield should be, because the post-spin dividend rate has not been disclosed.
- Guidance note: the second-quarter earnings release is Exhibit 99 to the 2026-07-23 8-K and was not extracted, so no management guidance of any kind is available to this dive and none is quoted. The only forward statement used is the 10-K's "we expect to spend approximately $1.3 billion for capital expenditures in 2026", which is on the pre-spin basis and is half-weighted. Earnings-call transcripts are not available on the current data plan.
- Timing: second-quarter 2026 results were released 2026-07-23, twelve days before this dive, and beat consensus adjusted EPS by 8.3% ($1.95 against $1.80) on post-spin revenue of $5,187M against $5,026M estimated. The next print is 2026-10-22, 79 days away, and will be the FIRST on the post-spin basis.
